Batman: Assault on Arkham

So back in 2014 DC released an animated version of the Suicide Squad in Batman: Assault on Arkham. Starting to get the impression DC is testing the water with the animated stuff before moving on to the big screen but in saying that, we're still waiting on that Wonder Woman movie guys!

Guyz?

Oops, lost 'em. Moving on!

I actually enjoyed this movie. It wasn't fantastic - I mean you can read what's going to happen from a mile away, Batman's always going to be the surprise reveal, Waller's always going to be angry, etc etc but I did enjoy it.

Oh they harp on about it NOT BEING FOR KIDS and good for them. It's about time that people got their act together and realised that not everything animated is for kids. However, it's this part that bugs me. Violent deaths and sex scenes... you still pretty much get them in anything these days - even stuff kids watch. It's all whatever, right? Kids are doing worse on Instagram and Facebook anyway right? And that Tweeter I've heard so much about?

No, it was the laziness of it in this movie that offended me. More than once, a female member of the squad is brought to near nakedness in order to distract or entice a male enemy.
Are you for real? Do people still fall for that shit?
No undies? No worries!
The cold never bothered me anywaaay!

I mean, this is the sort of stuff they *do* in kid's cartoons! The old 'yoo-hooo!' bait and switch. Not to mention any one who's seen any sort of suspense thriller, spy movie, action movie etc will know that basically any woman who flirts/strips/seduces is either bait or an enemy spy who's throwing you off your game to kill you!

Why would anyone EVER fall for that? I felt like the movie insulted our intelligence in this regard, and that of the two bit mooks that paid the price.
Not to mention the female members look like this:

Maybe a bit bony and awkwardly shaped, especially when it comes to waist size but just look how voluptuous Killer Frost's boobs become the second she gets nekkid. I mean, they're clearly bigger than her freakin' head! If it's just nakedness BECAUSE WE CAN it becomes such a bore as opposed to a hedonistic pleasure.

Also - I loved how Harley Quinn was Harley Quinn - a new outfit to reflect the changes she's gone through but still enough of a throwback to her classic costume that she could be called Harley Quinn.
A belt hanging that low would annoy the hell out of me, but looks good on a cartoon character.
I suppose her black collar and liliropes are supposed to reflect her inner darkness or something?

Whatever. She's still blonde, has her ordinary flesh tone and face paint/eye make-up. She looks great!

Granted, I'm not sure why she puts on the eye make-up in picture two if it's not there in costume on picture three, but we'll let that slide. Because she acts like Harley Quinn!
If the new Suicide Squad comic had this Harley Quinn, I would read it with minimal bitching. Hell, I might even buy the damn thing.

It just seems like the right balance between Classic Harley and the new 52 direction DC seems intent on pursuing. Although, keeping in line with the new Suicide Squad comic, they keep trying to make this a thing:

The scene itself, not too much of a bother, at least it was funny. It just reminded me of that stupid scene in the Suicide Squad comic that wasn't just Harley Quinn needing to scratch an itch, it was trying to make them a thing. Telling us how independent she is and not needing the Joker.. then hooking her up with another  law breaking killer like ping pong.

In the movie they used it to get back at the Joker and create some tension yadda yadda but it's like Dc just wants to cram these couples down our throats *cough cough Wonder Woman and Superman cough cough*

I really liked the shoot Joker/intentionally help him escape without anyone realising.

Hero-clix Harley the Stripper, straight from LA....

My fellow collector called me up and said hey, there's a new Hero Clix Harley Quinn but she's in her new outfit. I said, what the hey, I'll have a look at it. So I looked at it. Turned away. Looked back. Nope, no mistaking it. They made her the lamest joint statue ever. Let's take a look.

This is the Harley Quinn Championship token thing. It looks like she's about to give some slob a lapdance. Here's what some of the previous team up tokens look like.

Justice League Dark #39

The hijinks continue with the Justice League Dark. Zatanna and her constantly changing outfit. Constantine with his new TV show! ...Deadface! Nah, just kidding, he's pretty cool. Not sure why they're fighting some sort of inky shreddy charcoal lady, but I assume that's something they do to bond.

Harley Quinn: Justice League United #9

So the madness continues with Justice League United #9.

I have to say, Supergirl's pose is pretty tame for a super heroine but still looks damn awkward. Also, J'onn is losing his mind, I don't even want to know what that weird baby tongue demon thing in the background is. Wait, what is that?! Kill it with fire!

Biased as I am, the Harley Cover is a massive improvement on the original. The more serious the original the better the tongue in cheek cover works. Speaking of working, how much better does the pure black look on her eyes?

Thaaaat's right, no more Valentines, just Harley Quinn. Why? I don't know, she sells? She sells like hotcakes so people - like me - may just go out and get these covers and inadvertently buy some crappy comic I have no interest in. Screw you, DC!!

Anyway, here's Justice League #39

DC Event: Convergence!

Snootchie Boo....whaaaa?

This was my initial reaction face when I heard that DC was planning yet another tedious event. I mean, They haven't even finished the other event that no one seems to care for yet!
(In case you're wondering, I'm talking about Future's End - the comic sensation that gave us Horrendous Hulk Harley and Hilarious Honeymoon Harley in the same breath.)

My emotions are all from the eyebrow, baby.
